Grilling SZN is here and this burger is a must make! The combination of the jalapenos + the grilled onions is so so good, but add in the sweet heat with the sriracha bbq sauce and this one just is over the top!

The Prep:

I like a big burger, so I like to only make 3 burgers with this mixture, but you can stretch it to 4.
Â
Grilling them over the onions adds so much extra flavor, but if you don’t have a flat top grill, you can cook these on a bbq grill. I suggest to smash the onions into the burger patties before grilling and minimize flipping the burgers.

Add whatever toppings you want, but the smashed avocado at the bottom is the best and adds a little bit of creaminess to the burger!

Equipment
- flat top grill, bbq grill or cast iron pan
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey meat
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 cup diced jalapeno
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 thick whole slices of red onion to fry the burger on top of
- 3 slices pepper jack cheese or cheese of choice
- 1/8 cup sriracha bbq sauce
Sriracha BBQ Sauce
- 1/2 cup bbq sauce
- 2 tbsp sriracha
- lettuce
- tomato
- avocado
- buns of choice
Let's Make It
- Heat up the grill or pan to a medium high heat.
- Slice 3 thick slices out of a red onion, keeping them in a whole.
- In a large bowl mix together the turkey, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, paprika, jalapenos, cheddar cheese and bbq sauce. Roll the mixture into 3 large patties.
- Drizzle a little bit of olive oil over the flat top and lay down 3 slices of onion. Place one burger patty over each onion slice and grill for 5 minutes. Flip the burger and continue cooking until the burger is done, flipping every once in a while until the burger reaches an internal temperature of 165℉. Don't forget to top the burger with pepper jack cheese for the last couple minutes of grilling!If you are cooking these on a regular grill, just smash the burgers into the onions before adding to the grill!
- Layer the burger with smashed avocado at the bottom, the burger patty, sriracha bbq sauce, lettuce + tomato.
