These turkey burgers are perfect for meal prep. Form the patties up to 24 hours in advance and store them covered in the refrigerator until ready to cook.

  • Use 93/7 ground turkey for the juiciest burgers. Extra-lean turkey can dry out more quickly.
  • If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños before dicing.
  • Don’t overmix the burger mixture. Mix just until combined to keep the burgers tender.
  • Cook to an internal temperature of 165°F using a meat thermometer.
  • Cooking the burgers over slices of red onion adds incredible flavor and helps keep them juicy.

Jalapeno Turkey Burger + Sriracha BBQ Sauce

The juiciest turkey burger you will ever eat- this one is loaded with cheese, fried over onions + drizzled with a sriracha bbq sauce!

Equipment

  • flat top grill, bbq grill or cast iron pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground turkey meat
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 cup diced jalapeno
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 thick whole slices of red onion to fry the burger on top of
  • 3 slices pepper jack cheese or cheese of choice
  • 1/8 cup sriracha bbq sauce

Sriracha BBQ Sauce

  • 1/2 cup bbq sauce
  • 2 tbsp sriracha
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • avocado
  • buns of choice

Let's Make It
 

  • Heat up the grill or pan to a medium high heat.
  • Slice 3 thick slices out of a red onion, keeping them in a whole.
  • In a large bowl mix together the turkey, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, paprika, jalapenos, cheddar cheese and bbq sauce. Roll the mixture into 3 large patties.
  • Drizzle a little bit of olive oil over the flat top and lay down 3 slices of onion. Place one burger patty over each onion slice and grill for 5 minutes. Flip the burger and continue cooking until the burger is done, flipping every once in a while until the burger reaches an internal temperature of 165℉. Don't forget to top the burger with pepper jack cheese for the last couple minutes of grilling!
    If you are cooking these on a regular grill, just smash the burgers into the onions before adding to the grill!
  • Layer the burger with smashed avocado at the bottom, the burger patty, sriracha bbq sauce, lettuce + tomato.
