Cookie Butter Protein Dip – Easy High-Protein Snack for Kids
This easy Cookie Butter Protein Dip is made with high-protein Greek yogurt, creamy cookie butter, vanilla, and mini chocolate chips. Serve with apples for an easy back-to-school snack kids love!
Creator: Leslie Stokes

I’m officially in full back-to-school prep mode, and this Cookie Butter Protein Dip might be one of the easiest snacks I’ve made for the kids yet.
It’s creamy, sweet, packed with protein, and has that cookie butter flavor that makes it feel WAY more like a treat than a high-protein snack. I portion it into our favorite little snack containers, sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the top, and add sliced apples on the side for dipping.
Basically, it gives me major Dunkaroo vibes—but in a version that works perfectly for school snacks.
And the best part? There’s no protein powder, no complicated ingredients, and no baking. It takes about five minutes to mix together and can be prepped ahead so the kids can grab one on their way out the door.
This is exactly what I want during the school year: easy snacks that I feel good about packing and that my kids are actually excited to eat.
An Easy High-Protein Back-to-School Snack
One of my biggest goals with my back-to-school prep every year is making mornings easier.
I don’t want to be standing in the kitchen at 7 a.m. trying to figure out what everyone is taking for snacks and lunches. If I can spend a little time prepping everything ahead, the kids can grab what they need from the fridge and we can get out the door.
These little cookie butter protein dip snack packs are perfect for that.
The base is Oikos Pro Greek yogurt, which already gives us a good amount of protein without needing to add protein powder. Then I mix in slightly melted cookie butter, a splash of vanilla, and finish everything with mini chocolate chips.
It tastes like dessert.
Serve it with crisp apple slices and you have the cutest little snack that feels special without requiring much work at all.
Why Greek Yogurt Works So Well
Using a thick Greek yogurt is key for this dip.
I use Oikos Pro because it’s thick, creamy, and higher in protein. Once you stir in the cookie butter, it becomes almost like a fluffy cheesecake-style dip.
You definitely want to use a thicker Greek yogurt rather than a regular yogurt so the dip stays thick enough for dipping.
And because the yogurt itself is already high in protein, there’s really no reason to add protein powder unless you want to.
How to Mix Cookie Butter Into Greek Yogurt
Cookie butter can be pretty thick straight from the jar, so I like to warm it slightly before adding it to the yogurt.
You don’t want it piping hot or completely liquid—just soft and slightly melted so it stirs easily into the cold Greek yogurt.
Give everything a really good stir until the dip is smooth and creamy, then add a little vanilla.
That’s it!
Top it with mini chocolate chips and try not to eat the whole bowl before you portion it out for the kids.
Turn It Into Back-to-School Snack Packs
This is my favorite way to serve this recipe.
I spoon the Cookie Butter Protein Dip into one side of our favorite divided snack containers, sprinkle a few mini chocolate chips over the top, and add sliced apples to the other compartment.
It’s basically a homemade snack pack.
If you’re slicing the apples ahead of time, toss them with a tiny bit of lemon juice or soak them briefly in lightly salted water before drying them really well. This helps keep them from browning in the refrigerator.
You could also pair the dip with strawberries, banana slices, pretzels, graham crackers, mini rice cakes, or even animal crackers.
For backpacks, make sure you send these in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack since the Greek yogurt needs to stay cold.
Make-Ahead and Storage
The dip itself can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3–4 days.
You can make one larger batch and portion it out as needed, or assemble individual snack containers at the beginning of the week.
If you’re using apples, I prefer prepping those closer to the day they’ll be eaten so they stay as crisp and fresh as possible.
This is one snack I would not freeze. Greek yogurt can change texture after freezing and thawing, and this dip is so quick to make that it’s much better fresh.
More Back-to-School Prep Ideas
If you’re prepping snacks for the school year, make a batch of my Soft-Baked Monster Granola Bars to go along with these.
I’ve been sharing breakfasts, lunches, and snacks that can all be prepped ahead because anything that makes those first few weeks of school easier is a win for me.
Between smoothie freezer cubes, homemade granola bars, mini corn dog muffins, cheeseburger roll-ups, and these Cookie Butter Protein Dip snack packs, we are READY for school mornings.
Why You’ll Love This Cookie Butter Protein Dip
This is one of those recipes that almost feels too easy to call a recipe, which is exactly why I love it.
It takes just a few minutes to make, you only need a handful of ingredients, and you can portion everything ahead of time for the week.
It’s also:
- High in protein without protein powder
- Made with just a few simple ingredients
- Ready in about 5 minutes
- Perfect for meal prep
- Easy to portion into snack containers
- Great with apples, strawberries, bananas, or graham crackers
- Sweet enough that kids think they’re getting a treat
And that last one is probably the most important around here.

Cookie Butter Protein Dip
Ingredients
- 1 cup Oikos Pro vanilla Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons cookie butter slightly melted
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips for topping
- Sliced apples for serving
Let's Make It
- Place the cookie butter in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for about 10 seconds, or just until softened and slightly melted. You don’t want it hot.
- Add the Greek yogurt to a bowl along with the softened cookie butter and vanilla.
- Stir until completely combined, smooth, and creamy.
- Spoon the dip into individual snack containers and sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the top.
- Serve with sliced apples or your favorite dippers.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to serve. If packing for school, place the container in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack.
Notes
- For an even stronger cookie butter flavor, add another tablespoon of cookie butter.
- A thick, high-protein Greek yogurt works best for this recipe and gives the dip a creamy, fluffy consistency.
- If prepping apples ahead of time, treat them with lemon juice or another anti-browning method and pat them dry before placing them into the snack container.
- Other dipping ideas include strawberries, bananas, graham crackers, pretzels, animal crackers, and mini rice cakes.
- Store the prepared dip covered in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
