Zesty Orange CHicken Marinade
One of my all time favorites- this Zesty Orange Chicken Marinade takes BBQ chicken to a whole other level.
I usually make this with chicken breast, but it is really good with chicken thighs, too!
Pro Tips:
- do not marinate your chicken for longer than 3 hours. There is citrus in the marinade so it can give your chicken a weird texture if it marinates for too long.
- Save any leftover chicken for salads- paired with my Summer Citrus Vinaigrette.
This marinade would pair so well with my Citrus Asian CHopped salad!

Ingredients
- 3 chicken breast cut in half (through the middle) to make 6 thiner breast
- 1 orange zested and juiced
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp fresh basil coarsely chopped (can sub basil paste or dried)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp horseradish mustard or dijon
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Let's Make It
- Slice the chicken in half (through the middle) to make 6 thiner breast. This allows for the chicken to cook faster and prevents the chicken from drying out.
- Add all of the ingredients in to a ziplock bag or bowl and mix well. Add the chicken to the bag- giving it a good toss to make sure all the breast are coated well.
- Let the chicken marinate for 1-3 hours.
- Prepare on the grill, in the oven or air fryer.
- ****You can also substitute chicken thighs.
