Killer French Toast Casserole

Ok, I may have out done myself with this one-  it’s too good!

Killer French Toast Casserole is made using- Dave’s Killer Bread- “Raisin the Roof” baked with ooey gooey chunks of cream cheese, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.

The Deets:

Every morning I usually eat a piece of Dave’s Killer “Raisin the Roof” Bread with cream cheese on top- It’s my favorite.

So, it’s getting cooler outside and the leaves are changing. Everyone (everyone meaning ME- I’m everyone) naturally starts craving more “filling” foods or those, you know….. “comfort foods”- The ones that make us gain 10 lbs every winter. LOL

That’s how this recipe got created- I’m taking my all time favortie breakfast up a notch!

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of: Dave’s Killer Bread- “Raisin The Roof “- or your favorite cinnamon raisin bread
  •  eggs
  • whole milk
  • vanilla extract
  • brown sugar
  • maple syrup
  • salt
  • cinnamon
  • sugar
  • cream cheese- cubed
  • butter- cubed

The Prep:

  • Slice the bread into 1-2 inch cubes and place into a buttered 9×11 baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, brown sugar, maple syrup, salt and cinnamon.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cubed bread, cover and let the casserole sit for 30 minutes. I usually just leave mine out on the counter, but you can pop it into the refrigerator if you want.

This casserole does not need to sit overnight, but it can be made the night before and stored in the refrigerator.

  • Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees
  • Top the casserole with the cubed butter, cubed cream cheese and then sprinkle with as much or as little cinnamon sugar as you want.
  • Bake the casserole uncovered for 50-60 minutes. You will be watching for a browned crust and a firm center.

Cooking times may vary, so start checking your casserole around 40 minutes or so.

  • Let the casserole sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  • Top with maple syrup!

So, my kids love eating this for breakfast and I feel a little better giving it to them because I’m getting some whole grains in their bellies!

I would love to add some apples or pumpkin to this to spruce it up a little for the holidays. hmmmm……

Hope you love it!

xoxo
