My Family Recipe
I think it’s time to offically call this a family recipe!
I have been makiing this baked bean recipe for years and it’s always been such a hit with family and friends. It’s a great side dish for any bbq, but I usually make it for the 4th of July because it’s so easy and packs so much flavor. Everyone always ask for the recipe and I am happy to share it!
This is a BIG recipe and meant to feed about 10-12 people, but I’ve also made this for a smaller week night dinner with just the Fam. Later on in the post I’ll talk about spiltting this recipe in half!
Ingredients:
- Ranch Style Beans (picture bellow)
- yellow onion
- 1-2 jalapenos- diced- 1 for flavor, 2 for a kick
- bacon
- brown sugar- can be subsituted for coconut sugar or honey
- BBQ sauce
- yellow mustard
- whiskey- definetly adds flavor, but totally optional!
- water

The Prep:
- Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees, then rinse and drain your beans.
- Dice the onions and jalapeno and chop the bacon into chunks- add to the beans.

- Add the brown sugar, BBQ sauce, mustard, whiskey and water to the beans and give it a good stir.
- Cover the beans with tin foil and bake in the oven at 400 for 1 hour- after and hour, uncover the beans and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
- These beans could also be made in the crockpot! Just throw them in there for 4 hours on low. That would make traveling with them so much easier!
- Let the beans sit for about 10-20 minutes before serving.

Cutting the batch in half:
I usually make this recipe for larger gatherings, but it is so simple to cut the recipe in half or even smaller.
You can use 2- 15oz cans of beans to make a smaller batch- cutting all of the other ingredients down to 1/2 as well and bake it in a 8×8 baking dish or even stove top. So easy!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of july!
Tell everyone at the BBQ where you found the recipe!
