Zesty Orange CHicken Marinade

One of my all time favorites- this Zesty Orange Chicken Marinade takes BBQ chicken to a whole other level.

I usually make this with chicken breast, but it is really good with chicken thighs, too!

Pro Tips:

  • do not marinate your chicken for longer than 3 hours. There is citrus in the marinade so it can give your chicken a weird texture if it marinates for too long.
  • Save any leftover chicken for salads- paired with my Summer Citrus Vinaigrette.

This marinade would pair so well with my Citrus Asian CHopped salad!

Ingredients

  • 3 chicken breast cut in half (through the middle) to make 6 thiner breast
  • 1 orange zested and juiced
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil coarsely chopped (can sub basil paste or dried)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp horseradish mustard or dijon
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Let's Make It

  • Slice the chicken in half (through the middle) to make 6 thiner breast. This allows for the chicken to cook faster and prevents the chicken from drying out.
  • Add all of the ingredients in to a ziplock bag or bowl and mix well. Add the chicken to the bag- giving it a good toss to make sure all the breast are coated well.
  • Let the chicken marinate for 1-3 hours.
  • Prepare on the grill, in the oven or air fryer.
  • ****You can also substitute chicken thighs.
