Equipment

  • crockpot/slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 3 large yellow onions, sliced
  • 3 chicken breast about 2lbs
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • salt + pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1-2 tbsp Kinders French Onion seasoning or French onion soup mix (optional)
  • Cheese (aged American, mozzarella, or your choice) for topping

Let's Make It

  • Place the sliced onions at the bottom of the crockpot, spreading them evenly.
  • Place the chicken over the onions.
  • Pour the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and balsamic vinegar over the chicken and onions.
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, thyme, parsley, and garlic powder. If you’re using the French onion seasoning or soup mix, sprinkle it evenly over the chicken.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked (165°F internal temperature).
  •  Once the chicken is done, add slices of aged American or mozzarella cheese on top of each chicken breast, cover until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve with roasted potatoes and veggie of choice, I love steamed green beans with this!
