The Best Mashed Potatoes

Creamy Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, seasoned to perfection and topped with crispy fried onions, are sure to become a festive favorite.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and diced (you can leave the peel on- personal preference) 2-2.5 lbs or 5 cups diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder to taste
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup butter add extra if you desire
  • crispy fried onions for topping

Let's Make It
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F
  • Boil the peeled and diced Yukon Gold potatoes in a large pot of salted water until they are fork-tender. 
  • Drain the potatoes 
  • In the same pot, warm the milk, cream cheese, and butter over low heat until the mixture is well combined and smooth. 
  • Return the potatoes to the pot, season with salt, pepper + garlic powder.
  • Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or use a hand mixer for a smoother consistency. 
  • Transfer the mashed potatoes to a baking dish.
  • Top the mashed potatoes with crispy fried onions, cover and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Uncover the poatoes and coninue baking for another 5-10 minutes or until the onions get golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and then serve your delicious mashed potatoes.
