Easy Mixed Berry Cobbler Recipe (Perfect for the 4th of July)
This easy mixed berry cobbler is made with frozen berries and a buttery homemade topping. The perfect nostalgic summer dessert for the 4th of July, served warm with vanilla ice cream.
Creator: Leslie Stokes

There’s something about a warm berry cobbler that instantly feels like summer. It’s the dessert my family always gravitates toward after a backyard barbecue, lake day, or holiday gathering. The combination of sweet berries bubbling underneath a buttery golden topping is simple, nostalgic, and completely irresistible.
One of my favorite things about this recipe is how easy it is to make. You can use frozen mixed berries straight from the freezer, which means there’s no washing, slicing, or prep work required. Just mix everything together, top it with the cobbler dough, and let the oven do the rest.
If you’re hosting for the 4th of July, this is the kind of dessert that everyone loves. It feels homemade and special without requiring much effort. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting over the top, and you’ll have a dessert that disappears fast.

Tips for the Best Berry Cobbler
Use Frozen Berries
Frozen berries work beautifully in this recipe and create a thick, jammy filling. There’s no need to thaw them first.
Don’t Overmix the Topping
Once you add the milk, stir just until combined. Overmixing can make the topping dense instead of light and tender.
Let It Rest Before Serving
Allow the cobbler to cool for about 10–15 minutes after baking. This gives the filling time to thicken and makes serving much easier.
Add Ice Cream
This is non-negotiable in my house. A big scoop of vanilla ice cream melting into the warm berries is what takes this dessert over the top.
