Hot Honey Chicken Parmesan Sliders

These Hot Honey Chicken Parmesan Sliders are crispy, cheesy, a little sweet, a little spicy, and exactly the kind of recipe I want on the table for football season. Crispy chicken, marinara, lots of melted mozzarella and Parmesan are layered onto soft Hawaiian rolls, brushed with garlic Parmesan butter, and finished with a generous drizzle of hot honey.

If you’re looking for an easy game day appetizer that can feed a crowd without spending all afternoon in the kitchen, this is it.

Football season is officially here, which means I’m bringing back all of the recipes that are meant to be set in the middle of the table and shared. Give me sliders, dips, wings, loaded fries—basically anything cheesy, crispy and easy to grab while watching the game.

And these sliders might be one of my favorites yet.

They have everything I love about chicken Parmesan, but instead of making individual chicken parm sandwiches, everything gets layered onto one big sheet of Hawaiian rolls and baked together. The hot honey at the end is what really makes them. It cuts through the richness of the cheese and garlic butter and gives the sliders just enough heat without being overly spicy.

Even better, I use crispy chicken tenders to keep these really simple. There’s no breading and frying chicken before you even start assembling the sliders. This is football food—we’re keeping it easy.

Why You’ll Love These Hot Honey Chicken Parmesan Sliders

There are so many reasons these are perfect for game day, parties or even an easy weekend dinner.

They’re quick to assemble. Using prepared crispy chicken means most of the work is simply layering everything onto the rolls.

They feed a crowd. One pan makes 12 sliders, and the recipe is incredibly easy to double if you’re hosting a larger group.

They’re incredibly cheesy. Mozzarella and Parmesan give you that classic chicken parm flavor and, more importantly, a really good cheese pull.

The hot honey makes them special. That sweet heat takes these from basic chicken Parmesan sandwiches to something you’ll want to make again.

They’re perfect for entertaining. Assemble them, bake them right before everyone is ready to eat and put the entire tray out with warm marinara for dipping.

Hot Honey Chicken Parmesan Sliders

Add Pepperoni

If you want to take these even further for game day, add pepperoni.

Layer a few pieces of pepperoni over the crispy chicken before adding the mozzarella. You don’t need a ton—the goal isn’t to turn these into pepperoni pizza sliders.

The salty, slightly crispy pepperoni with the chicken Parmesan and hot honey is SO good.

You can also add pepperoni to only half of the sliders if you’re feeding a crowd.

Other Variations

Buffalo Chicken Parmesan: Add a little buffalo sauce to the chicken and finish with ranch instead of hot honey.

Jalapeño Hot Honey: Add thinly sliced fresh or pickled jalapeños underneath the mozzarella.

Spicy Chicken Parm: Use spicy breaded chicken tenders and add crushed red pepper to the marinara.

Extra Cheesy: Add sliced provolone underneath the mozzarella.

Garlic Bread Sliders: Brush a little garlic butter onto the cut sides of the rolls and lightly toast them before assembling.

Can I Make Chicken Parmesan Sliders Ahead of Time?

You can prep some of the components ahead of time, but I don’t recommend completely assembling these hours before baking.

The marinara will eventually soak into the rolls and crispy chicken.

Instead, cook the chicken and prepare your garlic butter ahead of time. When you’re ready to eat, assemble the sliders and put them directly into the oven.

They’re easy enough that assembly should only take about 10 minutes.

How to Keep Sliders Warm for a Party

These are best straight from the oven, but they’ll stay delicious for a little while after baking.

If you’re serving them for a football party, leave the sliders connected until you’re ready to eat. Loosely tent the pan with foil and slice them immediately before serving.

I wouldn’t tightly cover hot sliders because trapped steam can make the tops soft.

What to Serve With Chicken Parm Sliders

For game day, I like serving these as part of a big spread rather than turning them into a formal meal.

They’re great alongside wings, a chopped salad, veggie sticks with ranch, chips and dip, loaded potato bites or a simple antipasto platter.

And definitely put out a bowl of warm marinara for dipping.

If you’re making these for dinner instead, add a Caesar salad or simple arugula salad and call it done.

Storing and Reheating Leftovers

Store leftover chicken Parmesan sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

For the best texture, reheat them in the oven or air fryer rather than the microwave.

Place them in a 350°F oven until warmed through and the tops have crisped back up. Add another small drizzle of hot honey after reheating.

Hot Honey Chicken Parmesan Sliders FAQ

Are chicken Parmesan sliders spicy?

Not necessarily. Most of the heat comes from the hot honey, so you can control how spicy they are by using more or less. For kids or anyone who doesn’t like heat, leave the hot honey off a few sliders.

Can I use rotisserie chicken?

You can, but crispy breaded chicken is much better for this particular recipe. The crunchy coating gives the sliders more texture and makes them taste much more like classic chicken Parmesan.

Can I use chicken nuggets?

Absolutely. Good-quality crispy chicken nuggets are actually an easy option because they’re already perfectly portioned for individual sliders.

Can I double this recipe?

Yes. Two packages of Hawaiian rolls will make 24 sliders, making this an easy recipe for a larger football party or gathering.

What is the best cheese for chicken Parmesan sliders?

Mozzarella and Parmesan give you the most classic chicken Parmesan flavor. Provolone is also delicious if you want an even cheesier slider.

The Perfect Football Sunday Appetizer

These Hot Honey Chicken Parmesan Sliders check every box for me when it comes to football food. They’re easy, cheesy, meant for sharing and don’t require me to spend the entire game in the kitchen.

I especially love that they’re familiar enough that everyone will eat them, but the garlic Parmesan butter and hot honey make them feel like something a little different.

Make a tray, put some warm marinara in the middle of the table and don’t expect leftovers.

Tips for Sliders That Aren’t Soggy

The biggest mistake with chicken Parmesan sliders is adding way too much sauce.

Chicken parm needs marinara, but these aren’t supposed to be swimming in it.

Use just enough sauce to get that classic flavor and serve additional warm marinara on the side. You get the sauce you want with every bite without sacrificing the crispy chicken or soft-but-not-soggy rolls.

Cooking your chicken until extra crispy also helps.

Total Time 30 minutes
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American, Italian
Servings 12 sliders

Ingredients

  • 1 12-count package Hawaiian rolls
  • 4-5 chicken cutlets or 10–12 crispy chicken tenders
  • 1 cup marinara sauce divided, plus more for serving
  • 8 ounces low-moisture mozzarella sliced or shredded
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Hot honey for drizzling
  • Chopped fresh parsley or basil for serving
  • Optional: pepperoni slices

Garlic Parmesan Butter

  • 4 tablespoons salted butter melted
  • 2 garlic cloves finely grated or minced
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Pinch crushed red pepper flakes optional

Let's Make It

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Cook the breaded chicken according to the package directions until hot and extra crispy.
  • Without separating the rolls, use a serrated knife to slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls horizontally. Place the bottom half in a baking dish or on a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Spread approximately ½ cup marinara in a thin layer over the bottom rolls.
  • Arrange the crispy chicken evenly over the rolls, cutting the chicken as needed so each slider will have chicken.
  • Top with mozzarella and Parmesan. If using pepperoni, layer it over the chicken before adding the cheese.
  • Spoon small amounts of the remaining marinara over the cheese. Avoid adding too much sauce.
  • Place the top half of the rolls over the filling.
  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic, Parmesan, Italian seasoning and crushed red pepper, if using.
  • Generously brush the garlic Parmesan butter over the tops of the rolls.
  • Loosely cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5–8 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and the rolls are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with hot honey. Finish with additional Parmesan and chopped parsley or basil.
  • Slice into 12 individual sliders and serve warm with extra marinara for dipping.

Notes

  • For the crispiest sliders, don’t overdo the marinara. Serve additional sauce on the side instead.
  • Chicken tenders, chicken cutlets or crispy chicken nuggets all work. Cook the chicken until extra crispy before assembling.
  • For a Hot Honey Pepperoni Chicken Parm variation, add pepperoni underneath the mozzarella.
  • If serving to kids or anyone sensitive to spice, leave the hot honey off part of the tray and drizzle individual sliders when serving.
